Surfing Instructor (Level 1)

Aim

•Instruct beginner to intermediate surfing skill and knowledge

Career Outcomes

•Surfing instructor within the surfing or outdoor recreation industry.

•Industry job roles that require surfing knowledge (e.g. sales rep, retail).

Topics Covered

•The role of the surfing instructor

•Identify and manage surfing risks/hazards

•Minimising environmental impacts (social and natural)

•Emergency processes and response

•Communication skills in the surf environment

•Instruction and coaching methods

•Preparing training plans

•Assessment methods for students

•Evaluating surfing lessons

Entry Requirements

Before enrolling, you must have intermediate level or above surfing skill and knowledge

Other Requirements

•current surf rescue certificate, and

•current senior first aid certificate

You can obtain these after enrolling, but must be completed to obtain your ASI qualification.

Qualification

Australian Nationally Recognised Training (NRT)

•Statement of Attainment in Certificate III in Sport & Recreation (SRO30106)

AND

•ASI Surfing Instructor (Level 1) Certificate

Delivery Methods & Cost

•Workshop 3 days with on the job training, theory and practical experience $450.

•We also provide apprentice training $350, flexible learning $250 and one on one private tuition $1250.
