Read more...We have had some fantastic results with surfers coming through the Level1 Surf coaching course with Surfdancer. Surfers have been choosing flexible learning and apprenticeship options and completing their bronze medallion with the Noosa Heads Surf Club. The next ASI level 1 surf coaching course will be held in Noosa from the 6th-8th January 2012.
Surfers wishing to complete their Level 1 Surf coaching certification can contact Surfdancer for an enrolment form or alternatively call ASI head office 02 93654170 and request an enrolment form for Surfdancer Instructor training centre.

Course fees are $450 for the workshop and will need to be paid in advance in time to receive ASI workbooks and manuals.

Surfing Instructor (Level 1)
Aim
•Instruct beginner to intermediate surfing skill and knowledge
Career Outcomes
•Surfing instructor within the surfing or outdoor recreation industry.
•Industry job roles that require surfing knowledge (e.g. sales rep, retail).
Topics Covered
•The role of the surfing instructor
•Identify and manage surfing risks/hazards
•Minimising environmental impacts (social and natural)
•Emergency processes and response
•Communication skills in the surf environment
•Instruction and coaching methods
•Preparing training plans
•Assessment methods for students
•Evaluating surfing lessons
Entry Requirements
Before enrolling, you must have intermediate level or above surfing skill and knowledge
Other Requirements
•current surf rescue certificate, and
•current senior first aid certificate
You can obtain these after enrolling, but must be completed to obtain your ASI qualification.
Qualification
Australian Nationally Recognised Training (NRT)
•Statement of Attainment in Certificate III in Sport & Recreation (SRO30106)
AND
•ASI Surfing Instructor (Level 1) Certificate
Delivery Methods & Cost
•Workshop 3 days with on the job training, theory and practical experience $450.
•We also provide apprentice training $350, flexible learning $250 and one on one private tuition $1250.
